Welcome to the home page for the Costigan Lake News.  Every year, a bunch of "normal" guys from all over western Canada take a week or so and embark on an annual pilgrimage to Costigan Lake in northern Saskatchewan.  Their goals are to renew old acquaintances, share some boat time, have a pop or two around the fire and maybe even catch the odd fish.

Participation is by invitation only, unless you're related to Vic, vaguely know Vic, know of Vic, have heard of Vic or even pretend to be Vic's pal for the sole purpose of getting an invite.  In fact, if you have an old rusty fish lure hook lying around that Vic can "borrow", he'll invite you. That's how I got the nod my first trip.  And by the way, don't expect to get that "borrowed" lure back at the end of the trip.

Costigan Lake is situated just south of Key Lake Mine on S.H. 914 in unspoiled northern Saskatchewan.  With hundreds of kilometres of shoreline, countless bays, sandy shores, crystal clear water and difficult access all set in pristine wilderness; the experience of fishing Costigan is pretty special.  Well, it's special if you can get past the broken axles, blown bearings, flat tires, busted trailer frames, cracked windshields and missing vehicle parts that occur on the drive up and home.

There are no amenities at Costigan Lake, other than a very shallow latrine hole Pat dug sometime in the past.  Everything you're going to need has to be hauled six kilometres through the bush from the road, and then boated to the camp.  With that said though, we are never lacking.  However, it can get a little tense when the Degenhardt boys are down to their last 32 flats of beer with a day and a half to go.

So, take a look around the Costigan Lake News site.  See you on the lake!
